From Pawn Stars to Gun Stars?

Post by Mud_Dog »

While searching for a new Gunsmith job to fall on if I should happen to lose the one I currently have(talk hasn't been very good), I came upon this nice little tidbit of information: It appears that the History Channel is looking for some people for a new show, probably along the lines of their "Pawn Stars" show.

See here.

Interesting. With the success of both "Top Shot" and "Lock and Load with R. Lee Ermey," perhaps this show will be pretty cool if it ever gets running.

Thoughts?

Hmm... The gunsmiths I know have mouths, and tempers, like race car mechanics... OK, not as foul-mouthed as race car mechanics. I've never met anyone who curses like that, but as sore-tempered...

So, "American Choppers", but with guns?

Actually, one of my first thoughts when I hear "Choppers" is Tommy guns (that or helo's, depending on the context). Motorcycles never seem to come up in first consideration for me.

Probably why I fit in around here.

No, a tommy gun is a typewriter, a Chicago typewriter.

I've heard it referred to as that as well. But growing up, I heard "chopper" as often as "tommy gun", with "Chicago typewriter" 3rd.

I believe that want add is a couple of years old. I suspect that they are already done filming or in production now.

EDIT: Found it

Thanks for finding that! Sounds interesting, I'll have to make sure to mark the date.

That last link was Discovery Channel, not History Channel. Perhaps they sold the show in progress and are working on another or maybe this add is even older?

According to the other wiki, there's also Chicago Piano, and Trench Broom.

The Chicago Piano was an AA gun
