Toolbox? No you want to blend in, there are too few situations where a toolbox is appropriate- most of the time it'd be just "wtf is he carrying?". Same problem for a guitar case. Who carries a guitar case?? Seriously.CombatController wrote:Toolbox I saw once, but is not too easy to lug around, the covert bag NPR linked to though has some merits.
Just go to a bag store. Seriously, there are stores that exist for the sole purpose of selling 'stylish' bags. Laptop bags, messenger bags, etc etc. Tom Bihn is your friend. You'd be INVISIBLE.
Smart man. Here is another guys thoughts on the matter.
I'd go for a large backpack or a gym bag (I'm not big on trying to use 'hipster douchebag' as a disguise). Don't underestimate gym bags, people have been building BOB's and range bags and whatnot from bags that are the same size, shape and basic design as some gym bags, they just are styled differently. Even one of those old-fashioned tubular "laundry day" tote-style gym bags could work, if you pack it properly (you're going to need some foam, if nothing else).I would prefer really covert over semi but semi over TUBAR.
