Whether it is 'real' sangria or not, I can't very well say. But in Spain, that's what they serve to teenage tourists as sangria. I know there are fancier recipes out there, but I haven't found one with authority. If you think sangria involves 7 up...

Re: Bar Flies and Idiots
They also serve them "galle mucho", probably - Sangria is a considerable amount of work, and takes time - galle mucho is coke and red wine mixed together - don't know if they still drink it. (I had some Spanish students work in one of the stores many many years ago. They usually drank that coke and red wine stuff, but made Sangria on bigger parties. TMK, the Spanish kids didn't add the brandy - that could be a Texas/Mexico thing - it seems to work better w. Presidente than w. French brandy - or it could have been a price thing.)

PBR is cool now?? When did this happen?? WTF????
When I was in Korea, the Skivvy Nine Lounge had a beer machine that dispensed Bud (in cans) for 30 cents, and the PBR was a quarter. Spent a lot of last-mid hangs shooting darts and getting delicately hammered on quarter beers. We figured that after a chow hall breakfast, we weren't going to be able to taste the difference, anyway.
But there ain't many troubles that a man caint fix, with seven hundred dollars and a thirty ought six."

I put cinnamon in mine, but I do that w. lots of things - I forgot about the cloves and nutmeg (I like cloves in ham, and nutmeg in cookies/custards, but it can be too bitter for me pretty quickly.)
Unoaked wine you say... I made a batch, once, that really stood out - I thought it was because I used a shiraz, in my search for bigger wines to use - might have been glass tanked... Worth investigating...
As for the 1/2c/qt - see lawyer comment above... My watermelon lemonade recipe calls for a qt. of Hendricks per pitcher...

The beer machines were gone when I was there, but my AW analyst had the keys for the coolers. No direct cash exchange. We had lounge cards that were punched for each drink (I still have one with a few spots intact). Spent many a Last-Mid Hang playing trivial pursuit.First Shirt wrote:

If anyone were to ask for a PBR in any of the places I frequent, they may be thrown out on suspicion of non-Oregonian status...

Because it's cheap and it's somewhat palatable. The same reason why Iron City is still in business, and in certain areas of PA outsells Budweiser.CByrneIV wrote:I have no idea why PBR is big here because there aren't any hipsters...

Re: Bar Flies and Idiots
I used to hang out in a great bar, the Red Lion.
If anyone asked for a "Bud," the bartender would answer, "I'm sorry, this is a 'Bud-free' zone."
Budweiser is like false teeth ... they're not teeth, they're a substitute for teeth. Bud is a substitute for beer.
If I'm going to drink beer (which is rare) it's going to be Newcastle Brown Ale, or one of the local craft beers.
