"Exercise Gun" Question
Re: "Exercise Gun" Question
The NAA mini may not be for everyone, but I must say that has exceeded my expectations. Reliability has thus far been 100%. I've feed it several types of ammo with no problems. The biggest drawback of the little gun is that once those 5 rounds are expended, there is no fast reload.

I just wanted to say, that just because you are mainly worried about dogs, doesn't mean that you won't need to shoot something else.

Re: "Exercise Gun" Question
as it is with J frames, the fastest reload for an NAA is another NAA.

If you dead set against a .38 then a NAA in .22 mag ought to be your next choice. You can get long barrels, folding cases and even trijicon front sights! (Mine has one)

I used to run/jog while carrying a Beretta Jetfire in .25 auto. After that I also carried a Model 21 when exercising. Nowadays thee Beretta model 21 comes in .22LR or 25 auto. I think its MSRP at $335 is a tad more expensive than your high end, but have seen them as lows as about $275.
The Beretta Model 21 I had was a small, well made and reliable pistol.
All the best,
Glenn B

I'm a runner and I always carry my stainless Colt lightweight Defender .45 loaded with Double Tap 185gr Nosler JHP's [7+1] as they do a nice 1175fps-585 ft./lbs. from my very accurate and easy to handle 3" Defender [and] there is no dog that won't "bite the dust" from it.
