Re: .380 Goodness
I saw something today that I didn't know existed--Magnum Research makes a .380 Micro Eagle. Didn't see the price tag, I'll try to catch it when I go back to the range tonight:

P.S. Aren't you supposed to shoot zombies in the head?
ETA: $494.95.

Very heavy, w. a horrible trigger pull - but good if you're looking for a pocket pistol to double as a rock...

So anyway, I carried it all around the Boise area on my recent trip to Idaho for my buddy's wedding, mostly in the GuruDave holster, once I got used to it. It concealed well enough in my dress slacks, that my wife didn't even realize I still had it on me, until after the ceremony and halfway through the reception, when she put her hand on my leg.

Have you found it difficult to get a good grip quickly when the print panel is to the outside?Netpackrat wrote:So anyway, I carried it all around the Boise area on my recent trip to Idaho for my buddy's wedding, mostly in the GuruDave holster, once I got used to it. I couldn't agree more.Aglifter wrote:Very heavy, w. a horrible trigger pull - but good if you're looking for a pocket pistol to double as a rock...

I did at first, but once it started to loosen up, and after I had practiced with it some, it was okay.Durham68 wrote:Have you found it difficult to get a good grip quickly when the print panel is to the outside?

Re: .380 Goodness
Continuing my habit of thread necromancy, I finally made it to the range yesterday for my first post-winter shooting session. One of the pistols I shot was the P3AT... Lots of failures to feed completely, mostly chambering the first round, and also the first round off the top of the mag (the second shot). Usually I could tap the back of the slide to push it into battery (not always), but it was pretty frustrating.
I have noted in the past that this pistol functions well when cleaned and oiled within an inch of its life, but it lives in my pants pocket... I always clean it well after firing prior to carrying it again, and I'm pretty sure I took it down for cleaning at least once over the winter, but still. I probably should do that more often, but the fact remains that I don't really want to be relying on a pistol that needs that sort of attention. I carried my Glock AWB all winter long, and didn't do shit to it; it fired all 110 rounds I fed it without any problems. I could increase my frequency of maintenance with the P3AT and continue testing, which I will probably do no matter what even if I buy a different pistol, but given that the only previous problems I have had with it was when it was actually fouled heavily from dirty handloads, I am afraid that what I am seeing is just an overall degradation in reliability. Dunno. Maybe I can get a new recoil spring and see if that makes any difference.
Thinking about getting a Kahr P380 to take the place of the Kel-tec... It's more expensive, and slightly heavier, maybe a little thicker overall, but I haven't read anything bad about it yet. Wondered if anybody here has one, and what they think of it? I'm not too thrilled about the idea of buying a new .380, but I'm coming to realize just how dependent I have become on the little gun. I'm in and out of NPEs regularly, and the pocket holster is way more convenient than any other option. So, I need to resolve what I am going to do fairly soon.

My Rohrbaugh has been great but no longer made. (Remington bought them and shut them down.)
I carry my P3AT at times, but I prefer my Rohrbaugh or a J frame if at all possible
An air weight J frame is quite nice

I think I am going to buy Wolff recoil and magazine springs before I rush out and buy a new pistol. Particularly since I ordered a 3rd magazine for the P3AT a couple weeks ago, that tracking says is at the post office.

An airweight J-frame is quite nice, to carry, until you have to shoot it. Ouch, my wrists...
