On the handguns, I'm in total agreement with CByrneIV, and probably for much the same reasons.

If i could only own one hammer, it would be a 16 oz. Estwing framing hammer.

But for the same reasons one hammer won't do everything, neither will one gun.

I know, I know ... and god help us if it ever comes to that...

But I wanted to see what some people feel most strongly about so I can head in that direction to sample the wares as it were.

I have very little experience in the 1911 platform. The little I have, I didn't like, but then again I "grew up" on Glocks -- so... I like DOA's but recently have been itching for a better trigger...

But once my personal financial chaos subsides, I plan on getting a revolver and wanted some fodder for thought. Probably something in .357 and not terribly adapted to carry. (I like semi's for carry).

Anyway, lets see what you all can't live without, so I can see what I might need to buy. :D

Definitely my S&W model 15. I'm a small guy and .357 is really uncomfortable for me but I love shooting .38, it's fine for defense, it's a lot of fun, and it's really accurate with the best trigger i've ever used. :D As for auto I'm somewhat torn between 1911a1 gov't model, a Broomhandle, or a Hi-Power.

If I could own only one handgun, I would use it to kill a jackboot, and then I would have two handguns.

I think it's a Freudian slip. He's talking about chambering...

Model 28, 4" barrel.

It's a good thing we don't have to only have one. I like my 649 where it is.

Stainless 4" .357, S&W or Ruger GP100

Auto is a 1911, probably the Springfield Omega so I can swap between 10mm, .40, .357 sig, 9mm, .38 super, .22, .45 ACP, .45 super, .400 corbon, etc.

What I'd really like to have: a S&W 460XVR - gotta love a pistol that'll shoot .45 Colt, .454 Casull, and .460 S&W. For an auto, a custom 10mm like Chris'.

For right now: a 1911, and a Ruger Blackhawk .357

Only one pistol? I'll have my Nagant Gas-Seal made into a Fitz Special, get it engraved, and have the trigger, hammer, loading gate, & ejector rod TiN coated. That way, anyone I have to pull a gun on will laugh themselves to death.
