I always tell people that you want a full buttstock on your home defense shotgun- this is why!

Yeah they do.

I always thought of adding a steel plate to the butt of my AR, and lengthening it a little bit at the bottom. You could stick someone in the jaw on an upstroke with it like the claw of a hammer.

Hmm. Well, I guess there's nothing to do about it other than call for woodworkers to volunteer to manufacture millions of sets of wood AR furniture. Sure, it'll be heavier, but that's fine. Oh, we could go back to the M14 or some such idea, but howzabout we sneak in some 64-grain softpoints and 68 to 77-grain open tips to the troops in the interim? It's not like we're fighting Hague signatories at the moment. Naughty bullets and wooden stocks and the M4 is good to go for the time being.

The parameters can be easy, too:

-- Must be able to crack wannabe jihadi's skull open like a Chinese knock-off piñata.

-- Must be able to reinforce receiver extension/ buffer tube during close-quarters combat impacts or shield it from damage from said impacts.

-- Must look acceptably awesome. Acceptably old-school is a suitable substitute.

-- Must have non-stick surface to facilitate easy cleaning of blood, skin and brain matter.

Might be hard to explain if you're not a firefighter.

Unless you count the nose... technically not a bone but I'll bet it smashes under a punch pretty well.

Done it plenty of times. Never had a problem.
