The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

You know, that's a darn funny idea. I think I'll try to reset the lock and see what happens.
Back in a bit, boys.
Best of luck to ya'!! Hurry up and fix it will ya'? My fingers and toes being crossed makes it quite difficult and uncomfortable to walk around that way. And no, I'm NOT going to cross my eyes too.

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

OKAY, so we understand the problem wasn't with the equipment, and all is well now?
After all that, I'll buy your drink - the problem is you're quite a ways from me and I'm NOT posting my credit card number for you to hit the bars.

Next time I'm down that way, we'll buy each other a round.
In the mean time, I'm going to put my head back up my butt. It's comfortable there, and I'll do a lot less harm to myself that way.
EDIT: I updated the original post. As funny as it is that I did something stupid, it's not so funny when I start out blaming someone else. I've edited the original post and the title. I let my anger overrun my honor, and that's not okay. I hope this will remind me that I need to be a better person. Liberty safes are quality product, and Sam's Club runs a good outfit.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

Hey don't feel too bad , I lost it once and beat the tail gate off of a Toyota Tacoma with a hammer.
Welcome to the rest of your crazy silly life , remember hardware can always be replaced, or used correctly .

I look at it this way:
Fuckups happen. It's what you do when you fuck up that defines you, really.
For instance, I worked retail for a number of years. We made mistakes. They tended to be expensive so we minimized them, but when we made one we made it right. Nowadays in terms of CS I don't mind so much if a person or a company makes a mistake, but I *do* care about how they treat me when they do. (Though making nothing but mistakes _does_ wear out my patience.)
You recognized your mistake, owned it and fixed it. I don't see a problem. Don't beat yourself up too much. Just maybe think about introducing a cooling off period on, um, *heated* posts....
P.S. Once as a very junior admin I managed to create a mail loop, related to processing mail for a distribution list... I caught it and fixed it relatively quickly, but even in a relatively short time a fairly modern computer can generate a LOT of mail. There was a risk of making my employer look bad... (shudder) I openly admitted "I did it" and apologized to the affected parties. One of them was a senior sysadmin, and she made a point of telling me (more or less) "don't beat yourself up too much, everyone has screwed up like that at some point, I'm impressed with how you handled it".
Maybe we're just jaded, but your villainy is not particularly impressive. -Ennesby

I'm sincerely glad you you have solved your problems with the safe and my wife got a good kick out of the descriptions of what was going on (since we've had the occasional binding of the lock pins ourselves, or locking ourselves out after too many false combos when *someone* has too many fat fingers). When we get locked out, OUR lock specifies something like a 10 minute lock-out and a 15 grace period before retrying, otherwise, if you get it wrong, it resets the clock back to 15 minutes.
Personally, I've been VERY happy with my S&G electronic lock. The ONLY thing I wish it had (but not sure if I'd want to pay for it if available would be a EMP-Shielded lock. They told me it would likely be prohibitively expensive and not very practical on a small/moderate home firearm safe, and if it came time to protect us from EMP issues, we'd have a LOT more problems than being able to unlock your safe (which I COMPLETELY understood). So, when we're home, the safe is unlocked and not sealed. Whenever BOTH of us leave the house, the safe is ALWAYS locked tight, and even if they bust the lock off, the relockers will take care of of securing everything in the safe.

Fear of EMP attack is often over rated. There are EMP events every second in this country at very high power levels(lightning).
The Sun sends EMP events to us(solar storms) that contain energy thousands of times higher than any nuclear blast.
There are some things that EMP can do--but by and large its NOT going to kill every solid state device in the US.
People really should go and read the report:
Report of the Commission to Assess the
Threat to the United States from
Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack
