Revolver Caliber Conversion Kit

As was discussed in this thread last week, I am leaning towards a S&W 27 as my graduation gift to myself next spring. As a follow up, I wondered if S&W made an N frame .22, which they haven't. Now, of course I could just go with a smaller frame S&W gun, or a different gun entirely. I stumbled upon this product, however, and wanted to hear your opinions on it. I contacted them, and the cost is $195 shipped. A bit expensive, I would hope that since its made in Germany the fit and finish on it would be excellent, and there has to be a good amount of machining that goes into such a product. My only worry would be that something like this would suffer from inaccuracy. If nothing else, it would be a neat conversation piece for the range, and if it works well, it would be a great way to get some cheap practice in.

Anyways, what do you guys think of it?

I saw one of these on ebay or something a couple of years ago. I believe each chamber adapter has its own firing pin behind each cartridge. Can't tell for sure from the small illustration but it stands to reason (rimfire vs centerfire) and I think I recall that from the one I saw advertised. Probably works fine, just may be a bit tedious to load.

I had a lothar Walther .22 conversion/adapter for my Swiss rifles. It worked as advertised. You need not worry about the quality, but loading is probably tedious.

You could probably find an old S$W Kit Gun in .22 LR for about that price, an old K22 with IIRC a 5" barrel...there are lots of them out there...Even if you went with a Taurus or a Llama of the same frame size...

Weight is proportional to caliber and a .22 will have the same basic balance and pointability as a .357, just weigh a lot less as their is no recoil to absorb--what weight is for!

I've been tempted to get one of those Lothar Walther kits for my 458 Win... but it kinda defeats the point of using it... It would be a good way to get some practice in, however...
