Tools Still Made in the USA?

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

This sort of thing SHOULD BE *EXTREMELY* troubling to anyone paying attention.

It's apparently MUCH more important to preserve the global environment by driving all industry out of the US (and thus out of pollution controls) to China where there are *NO* such controls.

Personally, I'm damn glad they have that huge wall around their entire country that's built so high and so deep that no air or water can ever escape to spread their polution outside their territory!

Otherwise, one would have no choice but to think that the .gov really doesn't care CRAP about the "environment" and is really looking to destroy American industry!!

Oh, and PS: Horror-freight actually has some surprisingly well-made hand tools for prices still lower than equivalent "craftsman" tools. They also come with a lifetime instant-exchange warranty!

The Craftsman "instant-exchange" warranty was a huge Sears advertising success that fooled generations of Merrycans into believing Craftsman was the only tool line with that warranty. In fact, most makers of quality hand tools have that policy, and most had it prior to the big Sears advertising campaign. Back in the 1950s, my father ran a farm equipment dealership that also sold SK Wayne (today just S-K) hand tools. SK Wayne had a "no questions asked replacement" policy - same as Craftsman - but not a big advertising budget like Sears.

Hey I bought two Made in USA toilet seats today. (seriously)

I'd kind of rather have Chinese made crapper seats and USA made tools myself.

Yes, we still make tools in the USA. Biden is one brand I can think of. Pelosi is another.

I was going to say Obama, but it turns out that it's foreign owned.

Yes, but that tool has been cited for repeated safety violations, can only be exchanged in 2012, and even if you return it you still have to keep paying for it. The interest on that purchase is also obligatorily transferable to your progeny. Overall I would not recommend it.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

Sears/Craftsman did me a good turn that earned my loyalty back in 1974. I was changing
engines in my Willys M-170 Jeep and needed a 1-1/2-inch open-end wrench to tighten the
nut on the crankshaft; down at the Sears store, they lent me the one out of their
window display. It was 24 inches long and had a jewel-like finish and a big price-tag.

The tool-department manager didn't even know my name, just told me to take it and bring it
back when I was done. I've been a collector of Craftsman tools ever since.

Yeah, the quality of the mettle isn't great, and the Obama one has a tendency to "bend" at the middle. But at least you get a complete tool with each one.
