... just letting the proles go armed, instead of putting the [strike]army[/strike] paramilitary in the train?

Holy crap?

Is there anything left the NYPD can do to militarize their force? Good grief.
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom,...Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you...; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

The other day there was a Port Authority SWAT cop in the Path (basically a subway under the Hudson River from NJ to NYC) in Hoboken who was all tacticooled out, nattily slung M-4, helmet, body-armor, etc. Put him in camo instead of blackticool and he could have been in A-stan.

Mind you, this bugs me. I could go to JAIL in NJ or NYC for owning the magazine he had in his M-4.

In case you haven't noticed, we are no longer citizens in the US of A. We are serfs, just like the rest of the proles around the world. Switzerland is one exception, but once they allowed women the right to vote, it has been sliding inexorably toward the "Nanny State" as well.

In addition to being serfs who are required to give up part of our grain to our [strike]king[/strike] President -- not the 10% of "II Samuel", but about 40% (he is a President, after all, not a mere biblical king) -- we are now required to pay our benevolent masters for their munificent health care.

After bombing Japan into submission to "preserve the American way of life", we have now adopted the traditional Japanese Bushido code (lite). You only go to jail for owning the that magazine. If we had fully adopted true Bushido code, the [strike]Samurai[/strike] NYC police officer would have the right to execute a mere peasant on the spot for having the temerity to possess a weapon -- no questions asked.

The question is: So what are you going to do about it?

I'm pretty sure I told the story on here before.... A few years back I and some friends were sitting on the steps of the Museum of Natural History, having some lunch before going into the museum. There must have been some kind of alert regarding the museum, because while we were sitting there a caravan of police vehicles including a SWAT-type van (black Econoline, actually) drove up to the museum and a large number of LEO's got out, in full tactical gear. The funny part, is that when the SWAT van pulled up to the curb and the side door opened the first thing out of the van was an M4, which fell to the pavement. There were a number of heavily armed patrols wandering through the museum that we ran across later.

My point is, I've SEEN with my own eyes inexcusable incompetence with firearms on the part of these NYC tactical goons. *sigh*

And I would be a felon for owning a LEVER ACTION .22 with a tube magazine that holds more than 15 rounds (which is pretty much any level action .22).

So what good is that going to do?

Seriously.

Some dude walks onto the train with his hands in the pockets of his bulky jacket.

Dude walks over.

*boom*

No more train.

He's a suicide bomber so he isn't gonna care about getting capped by some cops before he goes Allah-boom.

Actually this is a poor example. With 'suicide bombers' the emphasis is on *bombers*, not suicide. Thinking of them as 'homicide bombers' is probably more helpful. And if they know they're not going to get to commit homicide, just suicide, then the appeal decreases.

What having armed folks on trains does, is deter/counter active shooters. Or active stabbers/slashers- which has been done, BTW. I know of at least one case where a guy with a sword hacked up a commuter train.... Crowded trains full of people you *know* are unarmed seems to appeal to a certain type of mind. And what would be better in that situation is not having to depend on the presence of a LEO.

This always struck me as PC BS, really. "Suicide bomber" refers to a very specific method of attack. Otherwise, any bombing meant to kill people could be called a "homicide bombing."

It helps you with intent- what a "suicide" bomber wants is to KILL people, dying is secondary. Otherwise they would just take a long, hot bath....

And calling it 'homicide' bombing is actually the *exact* opposite of PC.

Instead of Suicide or Homicide bombers why don't we call them what they are?

Goat-raping-cowards-who-murder-innocents-because-they-are-to-sissy-to-pick-legitimate-targets-bombers.
Years from now our children and grandchildren living in a 3rd world America will ask "What were you doing on March 21st 2010 and why didn't you stop it?"
