I was just wondering why there are no lever guns with detatchable magazines.
Is the reason mechanical limitation, with the inherent action of the lever? Or , is there just not enough of a demand for them?
The main reason I'm asking, is, that I'm a 'Southpaw' and I really like 'leverguns'.
I know, there are 'leftie' bolties, but, I like the levers. And, just think of the possibilities of all the NONrestrictions there would be if you didn't have to worry about 'pointy bullets' in the tube.
Thanks for any insights and info.

Well... The lever gets in the way, and the design of a lever is for a tube operation in the first place...
There is a magazine fed levergun though, it is the Savage 99....

Thanks Combat Controller!
That's kind of what I was thinking, but, I was hoping that there could be some kind of way to do a 'split lever' action, sort of like the dual rails of a pump action. Like a 'forked' lever that is on the sides of the round. I guess not though. Oh well, maybe someday...

The Browning BLR is a box magazine lever gun as well, and it looks a little more traditional than the Savage. Plus, it's available in a wider variety of chamberings than the Savage.

WOW!!!
Looked up the 99...
Quite pricey for a Savage!!!
Then again, from what I understand, back then, they were WELL worth it.
Thanks again for your response!!

The 1895 Winchester is a box magazine. Although it's non-detachable, it does address the pointy bullet issue.
Re: Why aren't there any detatchable magazine lever guns?
Thanks Dwight, but I don't like the Winchesters because they tend to 'flip' the cases into my face when ejecting. But, I didn't know the 1895 was a box mag gun...

The Ruger 96/17, /22 and /44 lever actions use the Ruger rotary magazines like their 10/22. I checked out the /22 a while back, it seemed nicely made, quite substantial for a .22 mag.

I knew about the Rugers, but I was interested in something in a bigger calibre than .44Mag, and with a detatchable mag, possibly with more capacity. The Ruger 96/17, /22 and /44 lever actions use the Ruger rotary magazines like their 10/22. But, the Rugers are what got me thinking about the detatchable mag for a lever rifle!
Thanks!!
