Re: The Force Awakens
i read somewhere that it would be best if these new movies were either awesome or awful. If they are awesome then we get a few more good star wars movies. If they are awful, well that's what Rifftrax and Red Letter Media are for. Anyway haven't watched the trailer let so let me take a look.
Hmm, well at least they managed to make storm troopers actually look threatening again.

Re: The Force Awakens
Lucas sold everything, lock, stock, and barrel, to The Mouse around Halloween 2012.
Took a sack of cash, left the keys to his empire on Bob Iger's desk.
Disney pointedly solicited Lucas' input for the upcoming final trilogy, while keeping the reins firmly in their own hands as far as final decisions.
Which is to say they want Lucas happy and on-board with the new films, but business is business, and they paid handsomely (to the tune of >$4B) for the right to do things the way they see fit.
That being said, if Han Solo loses the Millenium Falcon in a poker game at the end of the first installment to, say, Johnny Depp playing some intergalactic Cap'n Jack Sparrow, things could get epic.
If they try to cross the streams with Avengers or somesuch, it could get all kinds of AVP-stupid.
It's going to come down to whether or not they've actually got a coherent story.
Abrams proved he could only pull off 1 Star Trek movie in a row before losing his mind, so this is still up in the air.
Notable by their absence in the tease was the merest glimpse of Hamill, Ford, or Fisher.
And I predict lens flare.

Why not? A saber is an incredibly personal item, especially for a Sith. I'm all down with the light-claymore.Jericho941 wrote:Everything looks good except that light saber.

There are several short clips on Youtube purporting to be the official trailer. One of them does list Hamill, Ford, and Fisher, and shows Ford as a much older Han Solo. Here it is:Aesop wrote: Notable by their absence in the tease was the merest glimpse of Hamill, Ford, or Fisher.

Looks like Max Von Sydow is also in the movie. Now that's interesting, IMO. But is it real?

There is also something with Lucas still having a say on the dvds or something? That is why they haven't released the original trilogy on Blu-ray unaltered like millions of people remember. Kind of sad to realize that many people don't know those without Lucas's changes to them. And for that matter a time when there were only 3 great movies rather than 6 (3 being crap ones).

That's a mixture of other movies and video games, such as Destiny, and also Ender's Game.

Supposedly that character isn't a Sith, just a Sith fanboy with a home brew saber.Lokidude wrote:Why not? A saber is an incredibly personal item, especially for a Sith. I'm all down with the light-claymore.Jericho941 wrote:Everything looks good except that light saber.
And it looks really, really dumb. Like, "please destroy my laser sword by hitting my crossguard (unless it's built out of super-rare saber-proof materials) before I hurt myself" dumb.

I noticed the cross guard too. Also the plasma or whatever looks rather ragged. The cross guard is not a bad idea, just having it mounted on protrusions like that would not work well.

Re: The Force Awakens
I recall a lot being said about the double end lightsaber bo-staff being a good way to lose limbs.. The movie (that shall not be named) still managed to make it look awesome. (Would have been even cooler if Maul had chopped Jarjar into giblets.)
I'm cautiously optimistic.
Have the video game Old-republic stuff been pitched out of the canon as well? There are saber-proof materials used as starter weapons in those. Dunno how rare they might be by the time of the trilogies though.
