I'm surprised that Schlock didn't force his way into the security armor of the guard whose face plate he shattered...... though that may be coming.....

Took me about a week when I read the first post here! I wonder why I never got into it before? Maybe I just put it off to the side & forgot about it.

So let me see if I have this correct: Flinders wanted to leave the Toughs after finding out about their altered memories on the off chance that she might have been manipulated into into doing so by someone in the UNS government. Legs and Schlock decide to kill her in Shep's house instead of just letting her leave, and Shep's mother provides her an escape route. Schlock chases Flinders, Flinders blasts Schlock into tiny bits and dumps him into a bunch of separate waste bags to slow him down. Flinders changes her appearance and scent to further hinder search efforts by the Toughs, and makes it back to the bus to find that it's being broken into by local criminals. The criminals turn out to be Professor Pau's henchmen, they capture Flinders, and she stalls for time until she can get the jump on Max. She kills Max, breaks out of the bus just the Toughs are coming into the docking bay and makes off with their stuff. Meanwhile, Schlock has captured Professor Pau and gotten his butt handed to him by a bunch of armored goons. Flinders saves Schlock, Ennesby and potentially Shep by killing the goons. Schlock is about to kill Flinders when she bribes him with Genuine Imitation Ovalkwik.

So, was Schlock trying to kill her over the potential security threat issue, thinking that she'd broken the contract or the fact that she schooled him with a firehose? Seriously, he's losing his touch if she's not dead by the end of the week.

Nah. With those words (the ones I spoiler'ed out) Katherine announced she was unquitting, making her no longer eatable. In fact, she probably just self-recruited.

So, I called it a month in advance.

There were bad feelings toward Katherine from the last mission, when she was one of the "bad guys". They hired her for the current mission out of necessity, and didn't trust her. When she broke the contract was when Schlock decided to eat her (remember the bad feelings from the previous mission?). The firehouse made it personal.

The 7/31 and 8/1 strips were Katherine unbreaking the contract, earning some gratitude points, and showing that she has what it takes to be a Tough (between the timely arrival, willingness to stack the corpses like cordwood, good shooting, and big barrels of Ovalkwik).

He should have tried eating her in front of a judge. He broke the contract from the company's end by not doing so.
