Apparently it's got a second series. I spent the the first one watching it thinking " wow, they got that part right " about 25% of the time and 85% of it laughing because it was so ridiculous.
I read that the guy who created it is attending Hollywood parties wearing a 'Sons of Anarchy' patch. That blows my mind. A back patch is something you earn, it's not a fashion accessory for metrosexual script writers. Someone should kick the shit out of him for that.
At least some of the music is good :-

All my life I been in the dog house
I guess that just where I belong
That just the way the dice roll
Do my dog house song

Well, at least they are friendly. They worked a deal with Eagle's Nest Harley-Davidson in Lathrop (off I-5, south of Stockton) for a cast appearance and audience meet and greet over the summer.
Most of the SAMCRO part of the cast showed, and picked up some nicely customized bikes. Naturally, the bike shop is using that heavily in their advertising.

Re: Sons of Anarchy
That's the problem - I spent the first half of my life desperately trying to be like the people in that TV show and the second half trying to grow the fuck up and put it behind me. 'Friendly' doesn't come into it. It's a horrible brutal degrading world. Outlaw bikers aren't friendly, if they are doing it right then they are sociopaths.sam wrote:Well, at least they are friendly.
Those Hollyweirdoes are glamourising a gangster lifestyle they have no conception of. They are pussies leeching off the perceived coolness. None of them would last 5 seconds in the world they are portraying.
I understand the attraction well enough and if someone offered me a chance at a patch then I'd still have to think hard about it, even having been around that stupid scene for years. A mate of mine is just about to get his full colours as a member of the 81's and I'm torn between thinking " you fucking idiot " and " how cool is that "

I agree much of it is BS, but I have to say I've enjoyed the show.
I'm not sure they're "glamorizing" - I think they've shown the brutality and the sociopathy rather clearly - on both the "outlaw" and (in)law side.
I think they've also shown the deleterious effects on family ("Opie"'s bunch) and even the most innocent - babies who suffer from Mom's addiction... I could go on, but...
My impression of the show overall is that while it's not wildly accurate in the "micro" view, it is in a "macro" sense. They've done a good job at showing the pathology in all its sick, sad glory.
I've described it as "the biker Sopranos" - and I think that's reasonably accurate...

Get a copy of the Deepest End with DVD. Best concert DVD I've ever seen or heard. Incredible mix of music and talent. I catch them every time they come to the area. Got a Matt Abts stick that was beat to hell at the last show.. Front and center stage.
