Editor's Notebook: We Know Our Enemies
By Rich Grassi

Last Wednesday, a lunatic anti-Semitic old man allegedly entered the Holocaust Museum and murdered a security guard. According to a piece in The Washington Times last Thursday, "gun control advocates" used this tragedy as an opportunity to ask Congress not to loosen firearms restrictions in the safest of all American cities, Washington DC.

The grieving had yet to begin when the Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (and empower violent criminals), spoke of "weakening gun laws in our nation's capital . . ." After all, the gun ban had been so effective and all.

He issued his statement, according to the Times, "within hours of the shooting . . ." There's nothing like not even waiting for the body to cool . . .

For all the wailing about increasing gun violence - which hasn't been happening - and how "more guns" make us less safe, the data fails to support their contentions. As their contentions are based on sheer, unreasoning panic, the use of reason to counter them is pointless. They'll continue to wail and whine, citing numbers fewer and fewer people believe.

When the Holocaust-denying old scumbag allegedly shot and murdered Stephen Johns, a guard at the museum, further deaths were prevented - by other guards who returned fire and put the shooter down. They did that with firearms, the "more guns" that create so much fear in the hoplophobic.

For Mr. Johns who gave his life, and for his friends and family, we extend our deepest condolences. For the staff members who put the lunatic down, we offer our thanks and congratulations.

As to the killer, time will resolve his hatred and anger.

. . . And We Know Our Friends

Remarkably, 23 State Attorneys General drafted and faxed a letter to USAG Eric Holder on June 11. They wrote to "express (their) opposition to the reinstatement of the . . . semi-automatic firearms prohibition, which is commonly referred to as the assault weapon ban."

They went on in their letter to distinguish between "so-called 'assault weapons'" and firearms already covered under the National Firearms Act 1934. They quote President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid.

The letter also cites opposition from sixty-five Congressional Democrats, which they documented on March 17, this year.

While the gun control loons feel betrayed and victimized by their leaders in Washington, States' AGs make their opinions known. While 23 aren't 25 or 40, their number is better than one or two. If your Attorney General signed the letter, please pass along a word of thanks.

If not, remember the ballot box next election.
There is a certain type of mentality that thinks if you make certain inanimate objects illegal their criminal misuse will disappear!
