I wonder how many people recalled during this storm that the ship had been cut in half in order to insert a section to make it longer and capable of carrying more passengers?

Talk about "pucker factor"...

Cruises never appealed to me. That's why I was Army and not Navy.

I've had GFs try to tell me how wonderful cruises are with on-board restaurants, pools, shops, etc. My response was "So why don't we check into the Hilton, don't allow ourselves to leave the hotel for a week and pretend we're on a cruise."

You should try it in a 175' ship that only has an 8 foot draught.

We were surfing my last ship in the north pacific . The fantail was trying to swap positions with the bow on the larger waves.

We sailed a decrepit old destroyer though the hurricane that trashed Charleston back in 1990. that was a real hoot. We had footprints on the bulkheads, white water over the bridge, and green water over mount 51.
If you are unwilling to give another man freedom in his life, do not expect to have it in your own.
It surely beats trying to figure out what the metrosexuals want ( a good hard kick in the nuts in my opinion, but that won't sell ice cream :D )- Highspeed

We were on the signals bridge, riding the damned thing down into the trough like a freakin' roller coaster. This was somewhere around the North Wall. I remember taking my turn on the helm and keeping a steady course meant keeping the ordered course in the middle of approximately 150 degrees of yaw. I remember some long discussions about round bottomed oilers with empty magazines and dry cargo tanks. Good times...
