Update from Iraq

Post by g-man »

Not sure if this should go here or in the war forum, but here goes.

Finally got around to blogging about our re-mission and the work we're doing now. It's been interesting thus far at the new FOB, with some new challenges and some old ones in various states of similar forms. The unit we're paired with for training the IA unit is exceptional, and the IA unit is better motivated with regard to training than our previous unit. With regard to some of the hard to solve issues from the last unit, more of the same however. We're getting closer to the end, and it's apparent that the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train, at least for most of us. My assignment is still pending, more to follow on that when events warrant.

Great to hear from you! Keep your head down and check in when you can.

And thanks for Embracing The Suck(tm), especially during this holiday season.

Hey Jim, it looks like you're too south to be in what will be my AO. Do any of your IA have VZ-58s? I've heard that some of the IPs are getting them vice AKs.

If you ever make it to the Ramadi area in the months to come, let me know.

Thanks for doing this over the holidays so others don't have to.

That's outside our IA DIV AO, I was actually closer to there when I was just south of Balad. You'll have to keep us all up to date on how the SOFA developments turn out, what with the warrant requirements and all. It'll be interesting here, to say the least.
