Are You Ready For Some Football?
After the Denver Donkeys' last Super Bowl blow out, I find that I can't get too excited about the start of the new season. I've bled orange and blue for going on 40 years now, sometimes I think I was more an Elway fan than a Broncos fan, looking back since his retirement. Peyton Manning will doubtless have another stellar year, then choke in the big game.

Bad news and good news. My Redskins destroyed themselves today against the Texans. Sloppy as hell and why have two minutes before the half two time outs, behind by one point and don't even try to go down the field? Good news is, my second favorite team won. Texans over the Skins; now talk about bittersweet.

After all the different league bastards went on strike over the years, and after the NBA became a thug-fest, I pretty much decided that the only good pro ball-sports are historic. Won't cheer for them, won't pay to see them or buy their logo'd stuff. Screw 'em.

Romo should have had LASIK in addition to back surgery...

Browns are in midseason form, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Nice rally though.

I've always been a Packers fan, although I don't say that around my daughter, who thinks the Buccaneers are the reason we have a football season. And I guess The Boss is gonna be a Bucs fan too, since she thinks Lovie Smith hung the moon.
But when the Bengals cut Devon Stills, and then signed him to the practice squad so his daughter, who is in Stage 4 pediatric cancer, would have medical insurance, they pretty much owned me from then out.
Some things are more important than football.

Aside from the Saints, I'm much more of a college ball guy. Michigan State entered into some questionable arrangement with Oregon for a 2 game series with $300,000 going to each team that travels that year. So, we got $300k to go get beat out of the top 10 this year, and will pay $300k for the beating we receive next year. I'd like to meet whoever put that deal together. I get playing them, but every college team is still in moneyball mode right now. This feels like it should have been a late season, out of conference game. Someone over in athletics must have really hated starting out ranked so highly this year.
OSU lost, but without Braxton Miller, they're going to have another building year. U of M got the brakes beat off of them by Notre Dame, which is the ONLY thing I'm happy about this weekend. F@#k, I hate U of M.
Saint's defense is back. That's all there is to say about that.

I do like the Saints, because of Mark Ingram (an Alabama grad, and the first Alabama player to win the Heisman Trophy) and Vinnie Sinceri (another Alabama grad that makes a great undersized linebacker).
Crap! Now I'm cheering for two pro teams!

I heard that John Elway is going to be in the new OJ Simpson movie. He has a part as the Slow White Bronco…

What is a Brown? And why are they in Cleveland?

One secret to life. Step #1 - Find something you enjoy doing. Step #2 - Find someone foolish enough to pay you to do it.
