4 Thugs Attempt to Rob 75 Year Old Man: 3 In Jail 1 in The Grave

Four thugs tried to break into a 75 year old man’s house and rob him this week in eastern Minnesota. However, the 75 year old man didn’t take to kindly to it. He wrestled with one of the two men who’d actually entered the home. The man was carrying a gun, but the senior citizen was able to get to his own gun and he shot and killed the man. The other three fled, but they were arrested later and are now in jail.

The thug who was shot died on the scene and will never try to rob another 75 year old man, or anyone else, ever again.

The 75 year old man, Charles Carlson, has not been charged though authorities have said they are going to make sure that his actions did indeed represent self-defense.

As always, I'd love to see the faces of the surviving goblins when the Felony Murder rule is explained to the them.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

I wonder if there is a better section in Minnesota to charge the surviving three members of that little incident:
2013 Minnesota Statutes

609.19 MURDER IN THE SECOND DEGREE.
Subdivision 1.Intentional murder; drive-by shootings.

Whoever does either of the following is guilty of murder in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 40 years:

(1) causes the death of a human being with intent to effect the death of that person or another, but without premeditation; or

(2) causes the death of a human being while committing or attempting to commit a drive-by shooting in violation of section 609.66, subdivision 1e, under circumstances other than those described in section 609.185, clause (3).
Subd. 2.Unintentional murders.

Whoever does either of the following is guilty of unintentional murder in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 40 years:

(1) causes the death of a human being, without intent to effect the death of any person, while committing or attempting to commit a felony offense other than criminal sexual conduct in the first or second degree with force or violence or a drive-by shooting;
or

(2) causes the death of a human being without intent to effect the death of any person, while intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict bodily harm upon the victim, when the perpetrator is restrained under an order for protection and the victim is a person designated to receive protection under the order. As used in this clause, "order for protection" includes an order for protection issued under chapter 518B; a harassment restraining order issued under section 609.748; a court order setting conditions of pretrial release or conditions of a criminal sentence or juvenile court disposition; a restraining order issued in a marriage dissolution action; and any order issued by a court of another state or of the United States that is similar to any of these orders.
History:

1963 c 753 art 1 s 609.19; 1981 c 227 s 10; 1992 c 571 art 4 s 6; 1995 c 226 art 2 s 16; 1996 c 408 art 4 s 8; 1998 c 367 art 2 s 8
And then I found this (with Minnesota missing on the list):
DEATH FOR NON-KILLERS?

The following states allow prosecutors to seek the death penalty for those not directly responsible for murder:

Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Florida
Georgia
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Kansas
Mississippi
Montana
Nebraska
Nevada
New Mexico
North Carolina
Oklahoma
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Wyoming

The NRA should institute a ribbon with suspended gold-colored medal for terminally 10-ringing a goblin in the act, and unfailingly send one out to everyone successful in earning the medal in a lawful shooting (and clusters for repeat awards). A silver medallion for only wounding one would also be apropos.

Not only would the membership go hog-wild over the idea, it would almost be enough to get me to brave the onslaught of junk mail enough to re-apply, as I'm sure other non-members' responses would be similar.
The fact that the media would hyperventilate and Gun Fearing Wussies would crap their pants at the mere thought would be icing on the cake.
