Any Nook Color Owners?

Post by skb12172 »

Yeah, I know, I'm sooooo 2011. Still, I picked one up back in December for a song. It sat on a shelf until last week because I hadn't had the time to fool with it. Now, I've got the Netflix app downloaded, using it to type this right now, and also use it for email, Facefook, and general web browsing. I'm also picking up a Class 10, 32GB SD card for it tomorrow.

I've also downloaded some free Gutenberg Library books from that website, and am starting to peruse the Barnes and Noble website for other deals.

A couple of questions...

1) Is there a fairly simple way to root this thing to also read Kindle format? Maybe from an SD card, without completely rooting the entire system in the traditional sense?

2) For any of you, or your loved ones, who own a Nook Color, what are your favorite uses/applications?

3) Have any of you used DVD Catalyst to rip movies to your Nook? To me it doesn't seem worth it, since I've largely moved away from DVDs and most movies I watch these days are either from Redbox or Netflix.

4) Any other advice? This is my first tablet, btw, since to me, a laptop has generally been the be all, end all in portable computing.

Fire Away!!!

Simply from previous conversations, have not tried it: CyanogenMod for the Nook Color, so no Intel on it.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Replaced mine with a faster , better match for my phone , Samsung , but their is a lot of info on how to root these guys , iirc Chris rooted his . Anyway that niche has kind of dried up as the price of tablets has dropped. And tho answer your question look through the cnet stuff or I think we had a thread or two on this.

If I have the newest Nook Color, running JellyBean, would I still want the CM7 mod? Why? What do you think of the N2A cards Amazon sells?
