We have an IPad 2. Use it at the store and have taken it on travels. Due to business changes, this one needs to stay at the store and looking for another tablet of some sort for travels and other.
Budget less than $400.
Looking at 10" or 7".
Wi-Fi capability a must.
Thoughts?

You could go with the Google Nexus 7 for $200 to $250 depending if you want an 8 gig or 16 gig model.

This was to an extent a set-up. I fingerprinted the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7) yesterday at Best Buy. And liked it. I was standing near someone that was receiving the "spiel" from a blue shirt. Without specifically listening, it sounded like the Samsung was near the top of his recommendations.
The Ipad was acquired for the Mrs. to try to get her more comfortable with computers in general. It is successful in that light, but I am not all that thrilled with it. Printing is still a PAIN with the Ipad. As such a second Ipad would meet the needs that I think we have, but not that well either.
After posting my question last night. I also know that it had been posted in several different forms over the last couple of years and that things had progressed significantly so was once again relevant. Anyway after my post, I spent an hour or two trying to do research online. I found the usual reviews and manufacturers puff pieces.
It appears that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is the closest to what I would be looking for. The decision is between the 7 or the 10. The Ipad makes me really consider the 10, but portability/utility leans toward the 7. We watched many folks with a 7 or smaller size at the various airports in our travels the last couple of months and that seems to be the way to go.
Android is the system my smartphone uses so that also comes into play with my familiarity. Charging port, memory card and USB interface are huge factors too. Camera capability seems to be keeping up with state of the art cell phones on most of the tablets. I observed a reporter at Friendship using an Ipad to record both still photos and live interviews.

On both my phone and tablet, Android as an OS has proven to be just... so... adequate. /meh/
Still I'll use it and walk on hot coals before I give money to Apple and likely my next purchases will be Android base. Here's to hoping Win8 is worthy.

Although it sounds like you've made up your mind, I'll add a cautionary note about one not mentioned.
A coworker here bought a Toshiba Thrive tablet. And went through four of them in the next 8-9 months, with significant and varying hardware problems with each of them, that appeared after as little as 20 weeks of use. Three in a row had faulty HDMI interfaces (which was critical for him) but all had other issues, including USB, failing to charge, random crashes (after factory resets and with only the factory installed apps loaded). He ended up getting his money back.
I had high hopes for the HP Touchpad, but that didn't pan out.

Windows is worthy of flushing (IMO); don't wipe with it first, it already stinks.
