Don't rob a gun store.

You know, all things considered, the profit margins of a gun store robbery must be pretty high. Easy to move the product, and high value in a small package. PROPERLY PLANNED gun store robberies could be very lucrative

Burgleries tend to get a <yawn> response from local LEOs.
Armed robberies, on the other hand, especially of businesses, are kinda like kicking the hornets' nest. Because LEOs know eventually one WILL go bad, and it will turn into a murder scene; and local politicos do not want that. Bad for re-election.

Maybe I've just led a sheltered life, but I wouldn't have the first clue where to move any merchandise, let alone a gun store's inventory...

Oh, I believe you. In my case, though, I'd probably be like those poor saps in Office Space that resorted to asking the "crackhead" magazine salesman for tips on how to launder money...CByrneIV wrote:Every city and town in america has a black market for guns.skb12172 wrote:CByrneIV wrote: Unlike jewelry, which has at best a 10 to 1 fence cut, desirable firearms are often much MORE expensive in the criminal market than they are at legitimate retail.

Private sales don't have any documentation in most states
Gunshow private sales.
Classified ads.
International arms deals.
Local gangs.
Silkroad.
Believe me, the possibilities are endless.

I would think that a gunshop robbery of that scale would be like stolen art - you'd have a buyer lined up before the heist.

If you had individual, unique collector's pieces sure.HTRN wrote:I would think that a gunshop robbery of that scale would be like stolen art - you'd have a buyer lined up before the heist.
Otherwise to me it seems more like stealing drugs from a pharmacy- the individual units are fungible, so no trouble moving it. You might want to do something about serial numbers, though.
