Redneck Engineering
I saw this in the Wal-Mart parking lot, today. Mid-90's Toyota Camry, with the bumper cut to allow the installation of a trailer hitch! Necessity truly is the mother of invention.

I would have cut it at an angle to allow better range of motion.

ABSOLUTELY!!! That narrow range of motion means they hadn't thought it through enough yet. Typical Redneck would have them pulling off to the side of the road and cutting back the portions they thought would impinge them.Greg wrote:I would have cut it at an angle to allow better range of motion.

Sure would have been easier just to buy one of these and install it.

Not really. The redneck version only requires a few minutes with a sawzall and a mig unit.Termite wrote:Sure would have been easier just to buy one of these and install it.

The bumper is foam, so it shouldn't inhibit his turning at all. It appears he used a piece of square tube for the receiver, I hope he knows how to weld.

IIRC, it's much more like rubber.Fivetoes wrote:The bumper is foam, so it shouldn't inhibit his turning at all. It appears he used a piece of square tube for the receiver, I hope he knows how to weld.

Either way, the welding heat probably turns it into fumes that are pretty toxic.

I saw a porn spread where the gal was riding a hitch... She was about as redneck as the owner of that car is I am sure.
