Jeb Corliss Crashes

Post by Darrell »

Corliss hit Table Mountain (in S. Africa?) while wingsuiting. From the video, it looks like it happened today (1/16). Amazing he lived, though from the sounds he made on the video he must be hurting a lot...

You may remember him in this vid, "Grinding the Crack":

I didn't realize that Corliss was the guy flying with the dude who flew into the Royal Gorge bridge here in CO some years ago:

Crazy. At some point do such people say, "Okay, that's it, I've had enough?"

Remember that old, bold saying?
I think Jeb's going for bold.
My favorite story of his ended with "...and so he went out the back door in his bathrobe, flipped the AK to 'Afrikaner', and started hosing the baboons off his tennis court." - Tam

When I saw "Grinding the Crack" I wondered why he had bothered with a helmet, if he crashed they'd have to mop him up anyway. He's got some serious adrenaline issues.

Well, it's something to mount a camera on. Plus, there are other ways head injuries can occur when you're doing that than a 120-MPH header, I imagine.

The people who undertake extreme sports see death as an acceptable consequence of failure. They are simply not afraid to die.

I suspect part of the reason for a helmet could be insects

Found it! XKCD had a cartoon on this subject a little while ago.
http://xkcd.com/962/
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

People like that aren't right in the head.

That said... more power to them.

I hope he recovers to throw himself off more mountains.
Years from now our children and grandchildren living in a 3rd world America will ask "What were you doing on March 21st 2010 and why didn't you stop it?"

The first video's dead. They cut it.

Here's something I found that may or may not be the same.

It has an annoying 24-second ad lead-in, but that's what there is.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.
