Why didn't she try blasting the last wall once she discovered it was a wall? What about blasting the "bad guys" instead of the floors & walls? This is a very interesting concept/plot device, and it could be used/developed into other films with interesting results/effects.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

The portal gun doesn't work like that. It'll only project portals on certain flat surfaces large enough to form the hole. It'll go right through other objects without any effect, or dissipate on impact.

Also, blasting the last wall wouldn't have done anything because she'd still need to project an exit portal to go through. The last wall was soft, too, so it might not've even let her project one on it.
