Forgive me for not bringing this up sooner but I confess to not watching the debates. Watching a socialist prattle on about the necessity for Americans to put their own neck in the political noose and take a jump over the edge and a socialist-wannabe committing intellectual seppuku on national television gives me migraines. (I think that the "drunkbloggers" are probably the only people who can honestly stomach such spectacles...)
At any rate, fortunately, some people of worth have the courage and intestinal fortitude to cover these things and from them, I found this naked admission by Obamalamadingdong -- which, of course, appears to not have been mentioned by the press because of its obvious link to socialism.
On the bright side, Bill Whittle responds intelligently, bringing up some valid points. Unfortunately, Mr. Whittle does little to actually define what an individual right actually is (which, granted, would take longer than the 3 minutes that he was apparently allotted), although I do appreciate his tactic of "if housing (i.e., shelter) was a right, then what would be the standard for housing" argument to point out the need to follow the principle out to its logical conclusion.
"They have rights that dare defend them" according to Roger Baldwin. What this election demonstrates is that if people don't understand what rights are, they can easily be re-defined and turned against them.

Re: Health Care -- Now a right???
Health care is a service provided by others. If I have a "right" to that service, that creates a corresponding obligation on the part of the person to provide that service.
