I could be wrong, but we won't face a legislative threat to guns, at least not right away. Democrats can have long memories, and many of them will remember what happened to Congress in '94. Look for Obama to use agencies and the judiciary to complicate things.
Sorry, but I do believe that you are wrong. Again let me clear up a common misconception, the 1994 AWB did NOT cost the dems the congress...contrary to popular belief. Yes, it did piss off a lot of gun owners, but it was not the impetus of the 1994 republican takeover. That can be chalked up to the dems trying so furiously to pass HillaryCare. The AWB was also passed in an election year which didn't help the dems...and I do agree that they have a fairly good memory (and the American voter absolutely DOES NOT). If the dems are smart they will go for their gun control fantasies right off the bat because by the next time an election comes around it will be largely forgotten by most, if not all, non-gun owners. Hell, even the Fuddites and shotgun snobs will forgive that trespass if it doesn't hit them very hard. If they do it in 2009 the scoundrels will get away with it no problem at all. And frankly, given the rampant stupidity of our fellow citizens today, they might be able to actually get away with it during an election year.

As for recapturing congress in 2010...it is concievable, but unlikely. There is no Newt Gingrich today in the house to lead a revolution and the people just got done with rewarding the dems for leading the the most feckless congress in history...a congress with the lowest approval ratings EVER...they were rewarded with a bigger majority! I'm sorry, but that tells me an awful lot about my fellow citizens. It seems to me that the majority of Americans have an unquenchable thirst for Kool-Aid and the dems and their publicity wing in the MSM have no reason to stop serving it in the super sized cups. Bear in mind that the dems held the house for over 40 years before the republicans finally wrested it from their control and they passed some truly gawd awful legislation in that time with out suffering any retribution from their constituents. Yesterday was proof positive that a majority of our fellow citizens want increased government interaction in their lives...and that they are dumber than a sack of hair. That isn't about to change in the next 24 months. The dumbasses will still be just as stupid in 2 years as they were yesterday...count on it...the dems surely are.

I do agree with the notion that if the repubican party is to remain viable in the future it will need to purge the RINOs from their ranks. If the conservatives can't take control of the republican party then they will need to start something of their own. I know, I know, third parties are losers. But right now so is the republican party. If the conservatives can't send the democrat-lite wing of the republican party packing then they will continue to lose...just like last night. Of course, depending on what the commies in our midsts can get away with legislatively and policy wise in the next few years it might not matter that much anyway. Roosevelt and Johnson have been dead for years now and we are still paying an increasingly crushing price for the laws and policies that they institued to this very day. So the idea that the dems and Obambi can't do that much damage or that it can be fixed is not even remotely true. The Messiah promised to fundamentally change this country and he meant it. Words mean things and Obambi knows that, he is a very well educated man if nothing else and he knows exactly what he is saying...and he means it. Too bad enough of our fellow citizens couldn't understand what he was promising them...or maybe they did.

Well, it's been relatively quiet here since the 4th. I'd fully expected to be met with the jeering boos of the approximately 90% socialists in my chosen program, but it hasn't happened yet. One uber-liberal prof. noted that I looked exhausted the next day. I told her it had been a rough night, and the subject was politely dropped right there.

Of course, they all know my background and are afraid of confronting the guy from Louisiana that used to be a cop...

Tonight, I'm presenting my work for a re-design of a part of Saginaw. I fully expect an Obamagasm at this event, and will try to make it through in one piece. I am making it very clear that my political opinion is my right, and any persecution because of it will be met head on. Shock and Awe.

On a side note, the tattoo thread has me inspired. I think the next will be a Culpepper Flag with the latin phrase Chris had mentioned, Oderint Dum Metuant (Let them hate, so long as they fear) in the banner instead of "The Culpepper Minute Men". I would love to get the Navy Culpepper, but I don't think they can ink the white too well.

Wish me luck for tonight. It's gonna get deep....

Fingers are crossed for ya', keep your cool - I hope your presentation goes well.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Depends on the ink and the skill of the artist. The white parts of a tattoo I got 24 years ago are still visibly whiter than the surrounding skin tone.

Yes you are. Whack.

And I can't have a drink 'til the 19th.
That just compounds the loss.

Anybody for taking over the Congo?

Well, everything went pretty well considering. Dear Leader was only brought up twice during the night. It turns our Professional Practice prof. was overseeing this shindig, and is rather conservative (having owned his own firms in the past), so I think he may have put the brakes on a lot of the Obama worship from regular faculty.

As for the presentation, we had designed utilizing the existing buildings instead of going whole hog on the sustainable, green, touchy feely shite that's taking over the profession lately, and the folks seemed to really like it.

It could have been a lot worse.
