Er... No, not in the least. Israel is much, much farther left than just about any part of the US. It is a theocracy, and values Jews over other religions when it comes to rights* -- We should support them, but they are they are far from a free nation

*According to my buddy, things have improved for Christians, but that's, probably, a bit questionable. He's thinking about moving to Israel during an Obama administration, and was, I think, being shown things in a rose-tinted light. (IE, he was handed an M-16 to take around w. him while in Israel, and seems to think the same thing would be done to Christian visitors -- I suspect being a Jew, from a WEALTHY family, who is considering both immigrating, and becoming a rabbi, had a great deal to do w. his treatment.)
