I live in the barracks so my folding box cutter i carry everyday is my only bedside weapon. when im "home" i carry a .357 in my truck and it comes in the house with me at night.
Keep your booger hook off the bang switch.

But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg. -Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782

The rifles and scatterguns are generally stored away at least for now, with the exception of those in the patrol car. If the need is felt, one can be dragged out ahead of time.

The little ones running around do know not to touch mom and dad's guns but I'm not going to tempt fate and bad luck with their friends coming over.

We both have our carry and bedside handguns, and for now that's enough.
If the situation, political or personal changes, well changes in storage can change also.

I have my eye on a stoger 20 gauge side by side, with exposed hammers. Would this be acceptable for social shotgunnery? I seem to recall the coach or lupara being highly recommended by Colonel Cooper for HD.
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
