From what I was reading, this is basically correct except for the order built. The Japanese withdrew from the treaty in or around 1936, which was also when Wasp was laid down. The treaties were pretty much defunct by 1937, since with the Japanese off the reservation, there wasn't much reason for anyone else to follow them anymore. Hornet came after Wasp, followed by the Essex class.

This is why the Chinese Carrier is not going to be a threat for at least 20 years, even with the shortcuts their taking(like buying the Russian carrier and getting a feel for carrier design).

I forget the channel, but there are vids on youtube about various ship classes. Just a pic with voice narration about that class, its features, service history, etc. what became of various ships and so forth.

The one on the USS Ranger talked about how her own Captain estimated the ship was so badly designed that a single torpedo hit would break the hull in half and sink it like a rock. Which is supposed to be the reason the Ranger was not sent anywhere where being attacked by air might happen. If I recall right, the Ranger never even sailed into the Med.

The Ranger also had no stowage space for torpedoes and carried mostly fighters. (see youtube)

One neat bit from those vids was the destroyer that sank the mini-sub outside the harbor at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7 1941. Three years to the day... that ship went down in the Philippines, to a kamikaze hit I think. And the man who was Captain of her back on Dec. 7 1941 was the Captain of the destroyer that came alongside and made pick up on his old ship's crew.

Ah, here's the channel. Navyreviewer. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6Z3Uz ... WeDabxCfPw

He's got one on the Wolverine and Sable as well.

So I was able to get in on the alpha test weekend this weekend... Wow, this is a great game. It is fun, it is well made and it is easy to just jump right in. But it also becomes very intricate in terms of skill level and game play as you get into the higher tier ships. I mean a full broadsides from an Erie class is one thing but when you can whip the rudder hard to port and snake a battleship in between two torpedoes in a spread of 5, you get a hell of a grin on your face.

It is still under a NDA so I cant share videos or pictures yet but I believe that me being in the alpha lets me also get into the closed and open beta and the NDA should be lifted in the open beta so I will keep it updated.

Aye, my handle is Mekender

I am into Tier 6 on the US Cruisers tree and Tier 4 on the Battleships tree.

It is a ton of fun!

I meant to make a thread about the WoW launch but I suppose this is a good a place as any. I'm ups to tier 6 on USN BB's and Cruisers and tier 4 IJN BB's and cruisers. The damage models are of course similar to WoT with a HP pool and whatnot while I would prefer War Thunder type modeling, but I find that more forgivable in a large vehicle like a ship than in something smaller like a plane or tank.

The only real issue is that Wargaming apparently wants to make a Russian/Soviet tech tree next, which is nice an all, but is going to be half paper ships due to the Russians focus on ground combat during.

Anyway my in game handle is (surprise) Kommandar. Hope to see you guys in game.

I'm A_Chuck_Norris_Joke.

I'm at tier 5 for US DDs and tier 6 for Japanese cruisers. You have to be sneaky with the US DDs and they're pretty good for fighting the Japanese ones. Their guns are a lot better. There's nothing like a close in torpedo fight between two destroyers.

CobarMod

Only up the the South Carolina, St Louis, and Sampson since the wipe. Not a lot of time, unfortunately.

If I can spend the time to get the feel of it all, will probably stick to DDs and BBs.
