Unfortunately, no, he meant LBJ.
I once had a friend in HS whose parents were just a wee bit Marxist.

The father was a Nebraska farm boy who rebelled, became a writer and a wit, travelled the world, etc. Once he was detained for a time in South America while travelling because he looked like Che (he was working on a magazine article). He thought it was hilarious, and a compliment. Oh and good material, too. Wound up in NYC doing PR work when he needed money (life as an expat in Canada is cold, hard and poor). To him the Spanish Civil War was like the War Between the States to a Southerner- noble lost cause. I shouldn't be too mean to him, he once got me a job.

Anyway, the ONE thing this friend and I agreed on politically, was that LBJ was a horrific president.

Leftists young enough to grow up protesting Viet Nam LOATHED LBJ with a really impressive passion. (Nearly as powerful as the loathing actual patriotic non-Leftist Americans should feel for him for the *rest* of what he did.)

Anyone who likes LBJ wasn't around at the time.
Or is a relative.

Or has a 'protected' seat thanks to vote plantations he bought and paid for with *our* money.

The only positive I've ever seen for the LBJ presidency was the fact that he moved a lot of traditional Southern Democrats to the other side of the aisle. Even the ones who had voted for Kennedy were repelled by Johnson.

Of course, he got even by closing Brooks AFB, which was the perfect nexus of air, sea, and rail transport.

Respectfully, I'd disagree. I was familiar with the Carter era, and as craptastic as that was, I think our current pretender has surpassed him in craptitude.
I said 50 years, not 40.

Obama is certainly worse than Carter.

Neither hold a candle to Johnson though.
I expect your right, however, Johnson had enough shame not to run again.

So why would you be optimistic about the next black president not being worse than Obama?

You seem to be discounting the universal impulse of the left:

"It failed utterly... that means we have to do it again ONLY HARDER".

FDR is probably worse than Wilson.

Tough call. FDR screwed us up, but Wilson screwed up the whole world.

And none of what FDR did was possible without Wilson's groundwork. Really tough call.
