World of Tanks is pretty good. Yes it's been out a while but the new 8.0 update really changed it a lot.

Oh and Minecraft is a great game. The graphics aren't important which some AAA developers could learn something from. Graphics are nice but if the game-play sucks why bother?

What's in the water across the pond anyway? Perhaps it's all the hatchback cars. ;)

The biggest problems I see with "modern" gaming are...

#1. Money

Game developers now are only in it for the money. Yes yes I know this is how capitalism works, but come on some of the serious DICK moves publishers and developers have done lately in the name of the dollar is really sad.

#2. Consoles

The current gen consoles are BLOODY behind the times technologically speaking.

#3. Publishers only want to put out sequels.

This isn't completely true but it is a trend. There's a lot of IP and Genre's that are all but ignored by the gaming industry now, because shooters, RPG's and MMO's are making all the money.

Yup. There've been articles on why EA is so toxic for the AAA developers they gobble up and burn out, and video games in general. They're the most famous practitioners, but others like Activision et al also gleefully do the most stupid things.

CByrneIV wrote:Replace "game developers" with "game publishers and distributors" in your statements above and you're largely correct.

Combined with easy digital distribution, that's why indie gaming is taking off so much in the last few years.
Yeah I mean't to say publishers, but typed devs.

Played Halo 4. Thought it lived up to the Halo name. Great job from the guys at 343, really felt like it was made by people who cared about the Halo franchise.

It looks like the best thing about the game is the short film that Freddie Wong made.

It felt rather short to me. I loved the story, especially
the love that Cortana shows for John at the end. Maybe she'll be put in a human Spartan body?

Also loved the interaction with the Librarian.
Didn't enjoy the enemies or the weapons, save the SAW. I have high hopes for Halo 5 and 6, I just don't want to wait for them.

Was surprised and really happy they were willing to take such risks with the story.

On another note, I don't think the WiiU is doing gangbusters.
