If you are planning to use one for bear defense absolutely get the weapon light, it can save your life, and I wish I had bought mine a lot sooner. Actually, the first time I needed it, they didn't make the mount yet.

Well, I've been trying not to mention their name and thus avoid sending them any business, but it was made by Wild West Guns here in Anchorage. WWG arguably makes the best rear ghost ring sight, but Brockman's and XS make good sights too. I have no problem with the quality of WWG's parts, just the shitty quality of their service. I may still buy their parts if I can't get them anywhere else (like the light mount), but they will never touch one of my rifles again. It's a shame, because when they first worked on it back in 2000 they did a really good job.

I think I actually have a whole spare set of their stuff still in the box. I got cheeky and ordered two of everything on the list NPR sent me so I could do up to rifles. I only got one done, and sold the other. So If anyone is interested, you can get them from me, and not those guys... Kind of like a Chinese gun that way.

Thanks! I just picked up a Marlin Guide Gun in 45/70, so am looking for a good rear sight. Brockman's looks good too ..... may have to go that route since WWG doesn't seem to sell parts off their website anymore.

Hook me up brother. Looking for rear ghost right sight, and loop lever.

Brownells' carries some of the WWG stuff too, including the sights and trigger kit (highly recommended). I don't really have a huge problem buying stuff from them, I will just never take another gun there for work. I also don't think that the owner (Jim West) is really a part of the problem, just some of those he has working for him. One guy in particular that has worked the counter there for years is a condescending asshole. My brother (AlaskaTRX) went in there with me one day, fully prepared to drop $1500 or so on a custom rifle, and he was so put off by the guy's attitude that we left empty handed, and he eventually bought an 1895G used at a local gunshop. He took it in a year or two ago for the mods, and it was returned to him with a big screwdriver scratch across the side of the receiver, starting from the lever pivot screw.

He also did me a favor and left my rifle with them, to have the front sight hood pinned in place. They installed the hood when they originally modded my rifle, but it always slipped off and I have gone without it for years. Well, they pinned the hood, but then took it upon themselves to alter the adjustment of my rear sight. It is fortunate that I test fired it at the range before carrying it again, because it wasn't even on the paper at 50 yards. There was no reason for them to even touch the rear sight. Also, I don't trust the Marlin cross-bolt "safety" since I have had it get knocked into "safe" inadvertently while being carried in a sling, plus I am aware of at least one instance where it caused somebody to get chewed on by a bear when he got a click instead of a bang. So, I keep that safety locked in the "fire" position by tightening the tension adjustment all the way down. I kind of expect them to undo that whenever they work on the rifle, but this time they filled the allen head of the adjustment screw with some kind of goop to keep it from being adjusted again, which I was fortunately able to dig out. There was no reason for that. I'd be curious to see what they would do if one of the readily available safety blanking pins were installed. All they had to do was pin their stupid front sight hood in place; I never had that problem with the factory part, just the WWG hood that I didn't even ask for, but they swapped out when they replaced the sights.

If you want, I can probably dig up the site where I bought my "blinding" pieces for my Marlin.

+1 on eliminating the crossbolt safety. I had one engage partially while plinking, and removed it as soon as possible.
