Come on, I know someone has a set of calipers and a couple shotgun shells handy...
Measuring shotshells would be the wrong way to go about it, you really need chamber measurements. Something like these.

Thank you butch! This is a very helpful table. Any idea how far undersized to make all the respective dimensions for making the insert? Don't want it to be an ultra-tight fit.

The more I research into it, the less comfortable I am discussing it.

The problem is the .410 bore operates at higher pressures than the 12 guage in all but the 3 1/2" shells. You'd only have to fuck up a little to spike the pressures up past where the barrel bursts, and I don't want to get sued.

eo,

look up Roy Dunlaps' book Gunsmithing on Google Books. On pages 307-309, you'll find shotgun chamber and cartridge diagrams with dimensions.

Hope that helps. the book is a mine of information. It's worth picking up a used copy, if you can.

IIRC CIP table VII also gives the specifications for shotshells. If you still want that, PM me, as I'll have to dig it out...
