Um, nazzo fast, Guido. Sometimes it is family considerations, job/industry concerns, or just plain 'ol inertia. You might have a really great life in Gulf Shores, but if all you've ever known is Bahston, you aren't likely to just pick up and leave everything and everyone you've ever known. Sometimes, unhappiness is comfort because it is what you know. That does not equal satisfaction. Toleration, maybe, but not satisfaction. This also explains why so many women make bad choices in a mate, choosing the same type over and over and over and over again.

If one is not dissatisfied enough to make a change, they're either stupid, a masochist, or de facto satisfied.
Like standing on the tracks in front of an oncoming train, one either learns to move, or learns to love pain, or can't work out the inevitability of one or the other.
Most of the handcuffs people put on themselves and their options are self-applied. That doesn't make their pain the train track's fault.

The women whereof you speak are usually both stupid and masochistic. And highly satisfied in both states.

Finding one who is neither, but still capable of love for others beyond purely selfish reasons, is ever the tricky part.

Well, I'll be... maybe I'm thinking of when the old dude showed the post cards and said, "nothing to do but breed". I've seen Buckaroo Banzai, of course, but I'd swear the line was used in MM2 as well. Senior moment, perhaps.

People were always bemoaning the "lack of things for kids to do" in the town where AlaskaTRX and I grew up, and how the "natural consequence" of that was underage drinking, drugs, pregnancy, etc... I think my dad had the best response to that when he observed "not if your kid has an active mind." TRX and I never lacked for things to do.

The exact same thing happens wrt 'boredom' and drinking, drugs, pregnancy, etc in places where there *are* things to do, and what your dad said is just as true there.
