Specifically, "torrents" allow the downloader to grab bits and pieces of the file you want to download. If there are alot of "seeders" it can mean some pretty high download speeds. you use a torrent program like Utorrent. You find torrents by going to torrent sites, like Pirate Bay, Isohunt, Demonoid, etc or a torrent search engine like Torrentfinder and downloading the torrent, then use the torrent application. As it makes piracy very easy to do(in fact, because of the way it works, it favors downloading whole anthologies vs single songs like on Limewire or Napster), it makes these sites the favored targets of the RIAA, MPAA and the Justice dept - it's easier to go after one site owner, than 200 million torrent users.Weetabix wrote:Torrent is a download method, I think, that eases large downloads.evan price wrote:What is a torrent? Here's the official announcement from Baen (via their monthly newsletter):

...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Yep, we want Baen and its stable of authors to thrive. Shame about the 'first one's free' site going away, but we'll live.CByrneIV wrote: And as far as it goes, Baen makes more money, our favorite authors make more money, therefore they write and publish MORE BOOKS.
Oh and here's links to torrents of all the free ebooks:

And here's a link to an index of all the individual books, with download links:

Thanks for the links. Reminds me though, I need either a 7" tablet or a bigger phone. For e-books, 10" is too big and heavy, 3.7" is too squinty.

Oh yes thanks, I'm current on tablets right now. But we have 2 Touchpads and I'm not getting authorized to buy a new tablet of any kind until one or more of the TP's is deceased. So right now it's a wishlist item. But I do suspect my next tablet will be 7".randy wrote:If you haven't already, review this thread on tabletsGreg wrote: Thanks for the links. Now a new cell phone... that could maybe happen. My current phone was IMO the best available... in 2010. It's starting to show its age. If I'm a really good boy, I might be able to get myself a Nexus 4 for my birthday. Yes I know about the LTE thing, I'm on T-Mobile prepaid ask me if I care.
