If your form is correct, and you focus on correcting any structural and technique defects, and you do your rehab, etc you can stay healthy for a long time.

Now, to be competitive, like any other sport, you have to push a bit.

Olympic lifting, if done properly, is actually one of the safest forms, because there's not a great deal of sustained pressure, etc. Poor training is very dangerous, though.

Strongman is, probably, the most dangerous - mostly because the surface conditions and equipment aren't standardized, so you have to deal with whatever corners the promoter chose to cut - there is no such thing as sub-standard O-lifting equipment, or powerlifting equipment. The tinfoil garbage in most gyms simply won't last.. He'll, probably not even a week, if seriously used. I came dang near destroying a POS bar with one dead lift.
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our Fortunes, & our sacred Honor

This brings to mind the Humans are Cthulu trope. We really are the performance freaks of the animal kingdom. It's no wonder that we're the apex predator in virtually any environment we occupy.
HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat
