Well, it is difficult to get an objective measure on these things from the internet. It is often why milspec is so popular, they usually bothered to set out criteria and took what passed and hold the manufacturer to it (in a perfect world). So, if it's good enough for a grunt it should be good enough for whatever you are going to do with it.
i.e. my Nite MX10 NATO is issued to the SAS and since they have enough dosh to pick whatever watch they want it ought to have a minimum survival rate and utility. I love mine although I am living a life of high drag and medium speed these days. I try not to stand on any false "authority" for having served in the capacity I did, but I do have some strong ideas of what works and what doesn't in a high stress environment. I look for stuff with a good rep and then I see how the rep was won.
Look to a more objective forum like for dive watches, those either work or don't and it is pretty obvious right away if something is crap. The fact that it glows is a function of the phosphorus reacting to the decaying isotope and the body is made in China and the strap should be rugged. I guess find something that will give if it has lots of strain but not for a casual bash for straps and a strong face, sapphire is better. I have a S&W tritium watch I picked up at a SHOT show that I use to work out in sometimes, its pretty solid for the money and you can always change the strap.
Well, my two cents.

That's why I went to Lightfighter. They seem to have allot of experienced guys and a no-bull shit attitude. They liked it so off we go. As for the dedicated dive watch forums A) I did go to those and where I found some of the more contradictory opinions and B) the $250ish Luminoxs are not really dive watches anyway.
And I'm STILL going over my color options. Pretty sure I don't want white now as my Timex is already black with white lettering and I want something different. Leaning towards the orange SAR or Blackout now.

Re: Luminox Watches
I got my watch a bit over a month ago and so far I like it. I ended up with a Colormark Blackout, the same watch my Dad and brother have. The watch glows quite nicely without being too bright and it's always easy to tell the time with the hands and hour makes being light colored on a dark background. The band is ok if not spectacular. It biggest problem is that it does not breathe well. I intend to eventually replace it with a Martac Zulu band like I had on my Timex. I have noticed some oddities though.
First I have noticed that if I wear the watch while shooting both my speed and accuracy are vastly improved. However this only works with my Sigs. I shoot myy AK, 1911, and Enfields the same as I did before I got the watch. The watch also seems to have improved my driving skills, running speed, and I am now also able to hold my breath for upwards of ten minuets with no ill effects. Very odd.

I just stick with Casio G-shocks, the plain version. Online price is excellent, it's pretty tough, and it does everything I need it to do.

Re: Luminox Watches
I am here looking for a review of the Luminox watch. Does anyone know what the average price of this brand can run? Also, what is the typical size of the face? The plan is to find one for my husband for his anniversary gift but he is very particular about what he wears on his wrist. Has anyone purchased luminox watches from this Watchco website? I just don't want to buy online unless I have a review of the website.

Your best bet for the dimensions you are looking for are on the websites that sell the watches. Amazon also lists the size right where you can see it. The ones I have seen are typical watch sized. The watch seems to have more positive reviews than negative. Has your husband mentioned this watch by name?carleecolt wrote:I am here looking for a review of the Luminox watch. I've never been much of a dancer, but I couldn't imagine holding my breath for one or two minuets, much less ten of them!Kommander wrote:I am now also able to hold my breath for upwards of ten minuets with no ill effects. Very odd.

Well when you have the SEAL trident on your watch then you'll be able to dance as much as you want without breathing.Evyl Robot wrote:I've never been much of a dancer, but I couldn't imagine holding my breath for one or two minuets, much less ten of them!Kommander wrote:I am now also able to hold my breath for upwards of ten minuets with no ill effects.
