Yesterday my wife stopped at the supermarket and she said there were some "Army guys" with an "Army truck" there (my wife wouldn't know a Soldier from a Marine from a deer hunter, so I have no idea who they really were), asking people to buy stuff for the troops when they shopped and drop the stuff off to them as they left. She mentioned some of the stuff they asked for, snacks, OTC meds like aspirin and tylenol, candy, etc. One thing I wondered about though was diapers.
Anyone familiar with such a program? It's a good idea, asking people to pick stuff up when they're going shopping anyway. I'm just not sure if it's legit or not.

Both times my son was deployed his guard units would have volunteers doing collections of comfort type items.

My wife did buy some stuff and give it to them (she's nice that way, and not as cynical as her husband). I just wondered if guys in uniform, and in military vehicles, would be out doing these collections.

Thanks Chris, good to know it at least may have been on the up-and-up. Never saw them doing anything like that here before.
Still, diapers? To pass out to families over there I assume, or to give to families of servicemen/women that are deployed.

Actually, diapers make a pretty nifty waterproof dressing, I've used them on horses with leg injuries before. Just don't get the ones with pink teddy bears, you loose a lot of manly points.

For the families I am guessing. Probably legit.
