Gun-toting Texans prefer GOP

and David Saleh Rauf - Express-News

Among the assault rifles and razor-sharp throwing stars for sale at a recent Freeman Coliseum gun show, fierce loyalty to John McCain also was on display. Lit by flashing red lights and imprinted on buttons, his name greeted browsers at the booths of dealers who consider this year's presidential contest a momentous occasion.

“This election is the most important election in my lifetime,” said Sheryl Loughlin, a 62-year-old Cibolo resident who wore a “No B.O.” (Barack Obama) button high on her shirt.

At a booth beside her carbine-dealing husband, Loughlin was hawking curiosities that included a stack of Operation Desert Shield trading cards with the head of former President Bush at the top of the deck. Born in Jennings, La., she recalled a poor but contented childhood of “rice-threshing, hog-butchering (and) milked cows.”

And guns were ever-present.

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

That article is a disgrace, but it is true. We Texans will vote with our guns in mind with a quickness. Being portrayed as an anti here is sure death for a politician. Now if we could just get something done about open carry, and our stupid knife laws.

I second that comment, Chris.
If you are unwilling to give another man freedom in his life, do not expect to have it in your own.

The only thing shocking about it, is traditionally, TX Dems are also NRA "A" rated -- after all, "even our hippies carry guns..."

In other news, compasses point to magnetic north, the Sun rises, roughly, in the East, and the SA Express has often been fairly pro gun...
