The summer recess is over and Pennsylvania sportsmen’s rights are in jeopardy! State Representative Daylin Leach's (D-149) amendments are still filed to Senate Bill 151 and House Bill 1543. These amendments could be voted on by the House as early as next week. This legislation would criminalize and ban organized Pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania by amending Title 18 ("Crimes and Offenses") of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes.
Pigeon shooting is an historic and legitimate activity steeped in tradition with many participants throughout the Commonwealth and around the world. For over one hundred years, shoots have been held in Pennsylvania by law-abiding, ethical shooting enthusiasts, hunters, and sportsmen who would not tolerate an activity that would constitute cruelty to animals.
Of course, opposition to pigeon shooting does not come from within the Commonwealth but from outsiders. National "animal rights" extremist groups, led by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), have organized and funded efforts in Pennsylvania and around the country to ban this longstanding traditional shooting sport.
Make no mistake; this isn't just about banning pigeon shooting, but banning all hunting species by species. Today, it’s pigeon shooting, tomorrow it could be deer hunting. Remember, Wayne Pacelle, the CEO of HSUS has said, "If we could shut down all sport hunting in a moment, we would." He has even admitted, "We are going to use the ballot box and the democratic process to stop all hunting in the United States... We will take it species by species until all hunting is stopped..."
Please contact your State Representative TODAY and respectfully ask them to protect Pennsylvania's rich hunting tradition by opposing Representative Leach's amendments. Contact information for your State Representative can be found here.

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Pigeons are considered vermin for a reason... I should try one of these, sometime, though... Should be quite challenging...

I remember watching some hippies protesting the Hegins pigeon shoot by chaining themselves to barrels at the entrance on the news a long time ago. I always wondered why they didn't just dump the carcasses on all the protesters (They were lying down iirc) I very much doubt that they would have came back to protest the next year.

Well, there's just something about libs and vermin...
The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

I'm not sure, but I believe this would leave VA, MS, and TX as the last states allowing a pigeon ring.

I don't know, but as long as we can get canada geese classified as vermin in Illinois... wait, no, then ACORN will try to get them registered to vote.
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

State Representative Daylin Leach Needs to Hear From You!
As we have reported, State Representative Daylin Leach (D-149) is leading the charge for animal “rights” extremists in Pennsylvania.
Representative Leach has filed amendments to House Bill 1543. These amendments could be voted on by the House as early as this afternoon. Simply put, this legislation would criminalize and ban organized Pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania by amending Title 18 ("Crimes and Offenses") of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes.

Make no mistake; this isn't just about banning pigeon shooting, but banning all hunting species by species.
Please contact Representative Leach TODAY and respectfully ask him to cease his attack on Pennsylvania’s sportsmen. Representative Leach can be contacted by phone at (717) 783-9114, by fax at (717) 787-0861, or email DLeach@pahouse.net.
