Another vote for a pump-action shotgun. It is a handy necessity for around-the-house social work.

NJ is technically a "may issue" state. It's possible to get one, just not.... likely. Unless you're the right kind of person.eocoolj wrote: Carry gun? Whats that? I didn't know there was such a thing in jersey...
Mark, my collection is a subset of yours and the next thing on my list is a shotgun. So, same to you buddy.

IMO, looking at what you already have, the bases you've already got covered... next should be the 10/22, then an AR (or AK or SKS).

Re: If You Had Money To Spend....
I don't post much but can say that we just went through 1. the NJ Firearms ID card process, 2. the handgun permit process (4x) and 3. the Florida Non-Resident Concealed Carry Permit process.
1. NJ Firearms ID Card - you need this to buy anything firearms-related, including ammunition, in NJ. Hubby and I both applied at the same time, permits came a few days apart, but over 3 months later. Yes, it's in New Jersey law that they are required to give a "yes or no" answer within 30 days but they know most people don't have the money to hire a lawyer about it and will wait. Besides, as the person who answered the phone in Trenton said, "You know, we have other things that we handle here, we can't just drop everything for your firearms ID card."
2. Handgun Permit - Once the Firearms ID card is in hand, the handgun permit is cake (here in our red county at least). You fill out an application, tell them how many permits you want and I think they're $2 apiece. At his convenience the police chief will approve the permit(s) and you'll get called to come to pick them up. You have to show ID when picking the permits up (which is why mailing them was a no-no). For us it took about a week. The permits are good for 90 days from approval, but can be renewed.
3. Florida Non-Resident Concealed Carry Permit - The coolest thing since sliced bread. Application paperwork is available here http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapons/index.html. You have to fill the forms out perfectly, get fingerprinted, and I think it cost $117. It took 2 months for mine, but hubby's prints weren't clear enough so they rejected his and he had to go to the back of the line. We're at an additional 3 months with his (total 5), and when we called they said there's lots of people applying right now. On the bright side if your prints are illegible a second time, they accept them and give you your permit. This permit is valid in (I think) 31 states and is good for 7 years. We got ours not because we travel a lot, but because you never know who's going to be running the show in a couple months.
Sorry to hijack the thread but wanted to share that because it's all fresh in my mind.
My biggest suggestion to anyone considering these permits is, do it now. And NAG NAG NAG. We found that usually, maybe a coincidence but, whenever we'd call and nag, some sort of progress would be seen a few days later. Strange, eh?
Back on topic, we had a couple thousand to spare recently and first, bought a reloading rig. Every weekend we go to the range and dumpster-dive for spent cartridges lol.
With the other bit, we purchased a DPMS LR .308 (an AR-10 type of thing) and a Nikon Monarch something-or-other fancy-type scope.
Again, lots of things we do right now are in preparation for an Obama administration.

Re: If You Had Money To Spend....
Just to clarify the NJ hollowpoints issue:
Hollowpoints are completely legal to own and shoot in NJ. Just don't get caught with them in your car if you are not coming or going from where you bought them, a shooting range or a place of business that you own. It's a completely retarded law that does NOTHING to stop crime, but this is NJ, after all.

First off, welcome to posting and please don't be afraid to step in and let us know what's you're thinking. Secondly, the BEST way to prepare for an Obama administration is to do whatever you can to ensure it doesn't happen.bbkaren wrote:Again, lots of things we do right now are in preparation for an Obama administration.
This jerk will bankrupt the NATION.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Obama's hit a brick wall.
Granted, she's a good looking brick wall, but he's still smacked face first into it.
Kick 'im in the kidneys and don't let Barry recover, that way, you can keep buying whatever you want.
Campaign!

I'm one of the Global Mods over at Surplusrifle Forum and I ram rod the stock care section of the forum there. I'm glad to see that my old friends could not let a good thing just go away and got this site started.clyde621 wrote:Candyman: Good to see that you made it herewe were all wondering what had happened to you.
I have been staying pertty busy with stock work and women

Well back on topic

Here is my Kimber 22 conversion that I built a Rock Island frame for. It is one sweet shooting little gun. If you like cool 22 rifles you could get you a Polish Wz48 Trainer. They are one cool little single shot rifle.

Mark, you could always get one of these:RightisRight,
I admit I'm leaning toward an AR, seems it would be a good thing to have AND it ticks off the antis. The one "evil" feature that would be useful to me though would be a telescoping stock, my wife is almost a foot shorter than I am with short arms for her height, an adjustable stock would make it easier for me to get her shooting, especially with a lighter-recoiling rifle like an AR.
http://www.onesourcetactical.com/index. ... ProdID=927 and switch it out. I think there are cheaper ones our there. Not nearly as ideal as telescoping stock, but...
