is the purple and yellow stock a dye job or is that some weird wood like cocobolo or something from the rainforest?

It is a laminated stock.

Here's mine, I've posted this pic before, but heck, why not again? That's the CZ 452 American in .22 WMR on the left, and the 452 Lux .22 lr on the right. Both are great shooters, and both have beautiful wood.

my Sears Ted Williams looks almost exactly like your Ithaca (in that view at least) except for the magazine tube. I love that old carbine!
