Forget ISIS. All public servants in the US should have the Constitution in their hearts. For those whose actions do not already reflect that, there is Aesop's solution.

Edit to add, on further reflection, there may be a piece large enough to use for empalement; they will just have to take turns. There is some kind of poetic justice in shoving the Constitution up their asses.

What is the scope of the project? How many sets of grips are you planning?. And what's your budget?

I thought that the drydocking was to replace the copper lining on the hull?

Hull plating, decayed timbers and planking and misc rigging, etc. according to news articles. I'd be very surprised if the Navy sold anything for salvage. More likely anything re-useable would end up in a White House desk or on display at some National Park Service exhibit on ship-building, etc. Anything not fit for re-use would be recycled or destroyed quietly, or allowed to rot away like the Arizona's superstructure on Ford Island.

There was an article in Woodenboat a few years ago when they took her out under sail for the first time in many years. I got the impression that between all the various refits over the centuries, that there may not be a whole lot of the original 1797 frigate left. The author mentioned that one of his interviewees had said, if you know where to go below decks, and position yourself accordingly, there was at least one spot where you would be surrounded by pretty much all original wood.

I don't know what the order size will be. I can't see the results of the survey that another guy created. Another gun guy from my class claims that he knows some insiders who could easily do it. I have my doubts, as I don't think that any large manufacturer makes their own grips.

Everyone realizes that you can buy pens, flag cases, and chunks of wood from her off of the museum's website, right? And since it was a 2003 grad, engineering duty officer that docked her, I think that we have an in.

Wow! No, I for one didn't know that and thanks for the info! At $5.95 for a piece approx. 2"x3" I'm going to get a few for gifts and a project I have in mind. That's wood for which you try to find a serious purpose for every scrap.

I've paid a lot more for small pieces of exotic wood from some foreign country which probably officially hates us before I wised up.
