I guess I've never understood the fascination with two-stage triggers. I know most military rifles have them, and for training young recruits they make a certain amount of sense, I suppose.
But I've never liked them, and have always shot better with triggers that could be adjusted to provide minimum take-up and over-travel.
YMMV, JMHO, IRRDU.

Yes. Savage 16 FCSSslowpoke wrote:So what caliber did you order? 308?
The name, "Weather Warrior," makes me cringe a bit, but I'll get over it. Maybe I'll just call it Jake or something.

The 10-round magazines for the Scout rifle iwll also fit your rifle. Call Savage and ask for the Part #110570, MAG BOX ASSY, SHORT, (10 ROUND)w/LOGO BUTTON. You might not want a 10-round magazine, but I bought a couple for mine, just for giggles.Weetabix wrote:Email on the way.First Shirt wrote:Weet, I've got a couple extra mags that should fit that, although they are blued, not stainless. Ooooh... 10>4. I'll check it out. Thanks!
The Savage store says to specify bottom or side release. Which is yours?
More mags is always better

Mine is bottom release, as are all the new ones. I don't think they've made side release in a while, but they've still got to stock magazines for them.
ETA: I find it easiest to call Savage, with your serial number handy. They'll know exactly what you need.

Keep in mind that BR has as much in common with regular hunting rifles, as Top Fuel does with a commuter car. Yes both are automobiles, but that's where the similarity ends.First Shirt wrote:You might be able to handle a 2-oz. trigger, but most folks need at least two lbs., and three lbs. is better. More important than weight is how clean it breaks, and how much take-up and over-travel it has.

Like anything else, the more specialized it is, the less useful it is outside of its specialty.

I agree with Vonz because 90% of my shooting practice is on some military platform - M14, G3, AR15, etc.First Shirt wrote:I guess I've never understood the fascination with two-stage triggers. I'm so used to 2-stage triggers that really good single stage triggers tend to mess me up - I have to really think about my trigger pull.
Of course, as you point out in your last post, there is no "one size fits all" solution. Different tools are optimized for different applications, and few of us have the time and skills to master many tools.

.308 and a bit of practice, you ought to be able to peg a Q target out to 600 or so.
