My old FR-8 kicks like a mule. It might serve well as a brush gun.blackeagle603 wrote:That short a barrel on a .308 must really bark.
Hard to think of a comparable "carbine-ish" .308 though. Same length barrel AR10 feels chunky and large.

There is another bolt action technique that I hesitate to mention, because I've never tried it. It dates from WW I, and IIRC is aimed more at a group fire mad minute. It takes a fair bit of practice and I was allergic to work at the time and the difficulty of getting to a range and even acquiring .22 ammunition as a kid.
Basically your thumb and finger pretty much stayed on the bold knob and you " tripped" the trigger with a lower finger. This was used by some US Army troops on the .30-06 Springfield. I think it might be a tad difficult with a thicker grip stock found on your present day standard bolt action rilfes.

Toad, that's a technique for the Lee Enfield. It's how Snoxall set the record.

I will try to remember to get some footage of my friend rapid firing his Blaser R93. He makes those guys look like a slow-motion film... I have personally seen him hit and kill four running boar in less than as many seconds.HTRN wrote:Bolts can be fast.
