I will never again own anything with Butch Searcy's name on it. Ymmv.

If you are talking double rifles for dangerous game, a decent quality DR can be had on the used market for less than what Searcy charges.

Just like with shotguns, DRs can get to very stupid prices, but a decent working gun is not unreasonable, especially compared to the price of a DG hunt.

Krieghoff, Heym and Chapuis are all decent makers that can be had for the price of a Searcy.

DRs tend to be lightly used.

I wonder if solids would penetrate an armored Mercedes?
There's somebody making 22 hornet doubles if you're interested. :ugeek:

The .22 hornet doesn't have enough punch for the local Texas elephants. If I'm going to shoot up in a tree I need a shotgun or a scoped silenced .22 air rifle. The large caliber double is more versatile. I wonder if they make shot capsules in the .4++ sizes?

A 5.7x28 double would actually be quite nifty... Perfect for popping off varmints if seen

Rimless don't work too good in doubles. 218 bee is another option.

.303 Brit or 7.62x54R would be entertaining.

6.5x57r would just about be perfect as a stalking rifle..

IIRC the Russians made an over and under rifle in that caliber and also .30-06.
.45-70 or .45-100 basic would be interesting.
