Let's see: my wife had it done, my mother, and both of my sisters. One BIL is an MD, one sister is a PT.
;)
My ALS classmate was a PJ, so I guess that makes me an expert on combat rescue. Seriously, what part of any of this counters the idea that using the underclass as training dummies is rather repugnant? "It's a simple procedure"? Well yeah, that doesn't mean I go to the local vet for a vasectomy, a far simpler and less-invasive procedure. Then again, I contribute to society, at least in theory, so I'm not subject to this policy. Even though I could leave a trail of bastards in my wake from Key West to Cape Flattery if I felt so inclined.

Have fun at the teaching hospital.

I'm not claiming to be "an expert", but it's a fairly simple surgery, and IIRC, even done now on an out patient basis.

MDs in training are already used in "charity" hospitals to do basic diagnosis and proceedures. MDs in surgical training are already MDs, that's why they are called "surgical residents". They work under supervision of the experienced surgeons.
Exactly what is repugnant about that?

While flying in the Army, I only saw an MD if the PA wasn't sure of the medical issue. If it's good enough for soldiers, why not for folks on the dole?

Edit: Aesop must be watching this exchange with great amusement.

The point is valid, the way it was raised was highly racist. Again, it is a 2 steps back thing. For every good point we have, we like to fuck ourselves up the ass by the way we raise it.

Good point: Birth control is an individual responsibility, and should not be mandatory for insurance companies to cover.
Bad Point: Birth control? What are you, a slutwhore?

Good point: Until the first welfare recipient dies of complications. "They're using poor women to PRACTICE on before they become "real" surgeons so they can make lots of money working on rich women!"
Bad point: Until the first welfare recipient dies of complications. "Oh Lord! They're using poor black women to PRACTICE on before they become "real" surgeons so they can make lots of money working on rich white women!"

Alleging any use of BC equated to whoreishness would be extreme.
Pointing out that in her documented public statements, the actual slutwhore in question was demanding coverage of sufficient quantities of personal birth control to annually outfit a well-patronized brothel in Thailand during fleet visits, or Washington D.C. pretty much anytime Congress is in session, is not a bad point.

Pointing out that it would be simpler, cheaper, and more humane to sew the problem orifice shut as a service to mankind in perpetuity, through generations yet unborn, is actually frosting on the cake.
In the interests of economy, I would be perfectly happy to let a vet perform the procedure, as they have more experience with the breed in question, but if the offending slutwhore wanted to pay for a staff upgrade out of her own pocket, (you should overlook the pun) I see no reason not to allow her to do so.

And your suggestions are of course immediately dismissed because of the language used.

My personal belief is that birth control should be mandated to anyone on welfare. It is a great great investment, societally speaking.

I made the same suggestion within this thread.
Which doesn't negate the blisteringly accurate depiction of the precipitating party, nor the benefit of sewing shut the offending orifices.
In Fluke's case, those at both ends.

At some point, the other side has to wonder why it wouldn't be better to tackle her, rather than let her open her flap(s) on another topic near and dear to them.
She's the Willie Horton of birth control.

Because the response of "SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH YOU WHORE" did a hell of a job of rallying the opposing base.

So, like Cindy Sheehan, she was a useful idiot. Again, like Sheehan, I get the feeling she's outlived her shelf life and is now beginning to become a liability to them. Expect her to be dropped from relevance in 3...2...oops, already happened.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.
