No filibuster proof majority for the Dems.

Post by Termite »

ATLANTA – Georgia Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss handed the GOP a firewall against Democrats eager to flex their newfound political muscle in Washington, winning a bruising runoff battle Tuesday night that had captured the national limelight.

Chambliss' victory thwarted Democrats' hopes of winning a 60 seat filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. It came after a bitter monthlong runoff against Democrat Jim Martin that drew political luminaries from both parties to the state and flooded the airwaves with fresh attack ads weeks after campaigns elsewhere had ended...

Indeed.

As a dear friend of mine wrote this morning,
CHAMBLISS WINS!
Call or write him to remind him what Party he represents if he attempts to do any of that bipartisan horseshit!
He can be either the firewall or a traitor. I hope he selects the former & not the latter.
And, as hope is not a course of action, we will hold his feet to the fire during the next 6 years.

We're up by 303 votes as of a couple of hours ago.

With 93% of precincts recounted, and only 5000 challenged ballots that haven't been judged.

doesn't it depend on how many more ballots the democrats "discover" in the back of their trucks, in a forgotten vote machine, etc..? Seems they keep finding more votes as the need arises.

Now this is interesting:
Martin hoped to capitalize on excitement surrounding Obama but was unable to get many of the president elect's voters back to the polls one month after the general election.
Let's see now. In 4 years, after THE ONE has been unable to deliver on all his campaign promises (free gas and mortgage payments) perhaps "his voters" will stay home again. ;-)

Not to throw cold water on this victory, but there is enough gutless RHINO's to screw the GOP at least the conservative part again. I hope they see this might be their last chance to build something if they hang together, time will tell.

Then we need to lean on the blue dog Dems and remind them while their party leadership can deny them chairmanships, us back home can deny them their jobs. Kinda hard to become Chairman of the Wanks & Pork Committee when you're no longer in Congress. 8-)

INSTEAD??? How about IN ADDITION TO!?
